Since 2019, Volunteers monitored the Connecticut River for water quality. We are excited to continue the effort, with participation from Vermont and New Hampshire volunteers and state natural resource agencies, and the Connecticut River Conservancy.

The CRJC program takes advantage of both in-field testing and lab analysis to understand our River’s water quality. Many sites are located just downstream of the confluence with major tributaries.

Program Goals

  • Regular monitoring of water quality to identify successes and barriers to watershed health
  • Establish monitoring sites at different sections, in all regions of the River
  • Build local volunteer capacity
  • Build awareness of water quality issues on the River
  • Quality data useful to planning and legal requirements, according in VT and NH
