Description:

The brick Italianate Revival House owned by Patty and Marc Milowsky was erected by Nathaniel Shaw in 1855 on a hill north of the green. The upstairs ceilings are 12 feet high because Shaw intended to build a pipe organ for his bride to be. However, the lady changed her mind and he, apparently, was never the same again, requiring a guardian after that. Somehow, Mr. Labaree arranged to move Shaw out of the house and he and his family moved in. Shaw was very upset over this and said a curse would follow that place. Shortly after a year in the house, misfortune rained on the Labarees. ¶Included among the interesting design features of this home are its Italianate first floor windows and an oversized parlor. The roof is composed of slate shingles. In the 1930's the place was run as the "Southview Inn". The State Registry has induded this residence in its list of historic structures.
