Location: Station Road, Hartland 3 Corners
Site Type: Cemetery

Description:

Town Cemetery
The Village cemetery located beside and in back of the brick Congregational Church is the largest cemetery in town, and the one currently in use. The oldest section is directly behind the church. 1789 appears to be the oldest burial. The "new" section came into use around 1820.

An interesting spot is the Joseph Marcy tomb which sits on top of the hill with its tall monument. Marcys are also buried in adjoining lots and earlier Marcys are entombed in the hill behind the A. A. Martin (Ellis) house on Main St. as mentioned above.

There is a small brick building at the foot of the hill which was used for storage of coffins during the winter months. This is no longer used for that purpose.
