Description:

The ell of this Federal farm house was built in 1768-69 by Dr. William Sumner (1699 - 1778). Dr. Sumner came from Hebron, Conn., and was one of the earliest physicians in Claremont. He was the moderator of the second town meeting held in his home on March 14, 1769.

Later owners were: (1770) Benjamin Sumner (1737-1815), son of William; (1816) John Henry Sumner (1766-1850), son of Benjamin; (1851) David Hubbard Sumner (1776-1867), son of Benjamin. Now owned by Deneale Hunter.
